Since childhood, I have been hearing tales of tigers from my ancestors. Many interesting stories of encountering a tiger while ploughing, sometimes choosing mahua, while walking the road, grazing bulls and goats are scattered along the trails of my village. But never did I hear from my ancestors that I was afraid of tigers. It was never realized by anyone’s words that their entire species would become extinct due to the presence of tigers.
