Nikolai Ostravsky’s novel Agni-Initiation occupies a very important place in the history of Soviet literature. The composition of this book, and not the creation of this one, Ostrovsky’s entire literary work is the story of the courage of a heroic Bolshavik.
Ostrovsky was born in 1904 in a village called Vilia in Osnajsky District of Rovna Region. His father was a laborer but the income was so low that his mother and younger sisters had to work as farm labourers. His elder brother was a lahar’s apprentice who treated his laborers very badly.
